I’m Featured in the Casual Veggie Cookbook!

One of the things my mom loved about my brother and I was that we were never picky eaters. She took pride in the fact that when we gathered to eat with our friends and their children, we were the only two kids who wouldn’t leave food on the plates (#CleanPlateClub forever). I’m sure she couldn’t hide her glee when other mothers would look at us in awe. I’ve always loved spinach, broccoli, eggplants, and any other vegetables that picky eaters usually turn their noses up to. I was a real-food lover from birth.

When I first started cooking for myself during college, it was so exciting to have complete control over my grocery shopping and I loved the challenge of experimenting with various ingredients in the kitchen. That’s when I learned about various new-to-me vegetables that I’ve never tried before at the grocery store. Most of my mom’s cooking used vegetables usually found in Asian cooking, and believe it or not, I have never tasted (at least in my memory) brussels sprouts, butternut squash, beets, and artichokes until I started cooking for myself! Sounds crazy because those are some of my favorite things to eat now.

Because of my love for veggies of all sorts I’m so incredibly excited to announce that I’m part of a blogger collaboration cookbook called The Casual Veggie!! Along with 45+ amazingly talented food bloggers, I contributed recipes for this book that focuses on 29 veggies individually, inspiring readers to eat more seasonally and cook with vegetables that they weren’t sure what to do with before. What I love about this book is that the contributing bloggers are from all different kinds of backgrounds and food philosophies: paleo to gluten free to vegetarian to vegan, but we can all collaborate to celebrate  the diversity and deliciousness of various vegetables.

The Casual Veggie Cookbook

To celebrate the book, I want to introduce you to some of the fellow bloggers who made The Casual Veggie cookbook happen. They are all such creative individuals and I know you’ll be amazed at all the delicious and innovative recipes that they came up with. I’m so honored to be part of this group:

The Casual Veggie will go on sale October 19th. Stay tuned!

Hi Jean! I’m so excited to get to “meet” you through working on this cookbook! I was the exact same way — a veggie lover from birth. I got a lot of weird looks as a kid, but that didn’t stop me from chowing down on my greens!

I wish my children were more like you and your brother, it is sometimes really frustrating, when they just refuse to eat their vegetables. There are things that they like, but nothing too green (except peas) or too leafy. And mushrooms are from the devil, if you ask them. 🙂 Nice to meet you.
