Matcha is one of my favorite drinks to enjoy all year round, so when pumpkin season came around, I didn’t hesitate to combine two of my beloved flavors together to make this pumpkin spice matcha latte. I love that it puts me in that sweater weather mood, without giving me the caffeine jitters that coffee does. Plus, if the weather is still hot where you are or you just like cold drinks, it’s so easy to serve over ice to enjoy it cold!

Paleo & Vegan Pumpkin Spice Matcha Latte Recipe

This fall latte recipe comes together so easily and quickly with just 6 simple ingredients. All you need is a saucepan and a whisk to make this delicious drink. I love that the matcha powder provides a high dose of antioxidants without the caffeine crash, and the end result tastes just so wonderful. It’s creamy while still being light, and using cashew milk makes it paleo and vegan-friendly!

Whisking together cashew milk, sweetener, and spices in a saucepan

Ingredients in This Delicious Recipe

  • cashew milk: You can use any kind of milk you prefer, but I love the light and creaminess of cashew milk. To keep it vegan and paleo, choose a dairy-free milk.
  • coconut sugar: If you prefer a liquid sweetener, you can use 1-2 tsp of maple syrup instead.
  • pumpkin puree: Make sure to choose pure pumpkin puree, instead of pumpkin pie filling.
  • pumpkin pie spice: My favorite pumpkin pie spice is Trader Joe’s.
  • vanilla extract
  • matcha powder: For the highest quality matcha green tea powder, I highly recommend Pique Tea Sun Goddess Matcha. It’s the only matcha I know that’s been quadruple toxin screened for radioactive isotopes, heavy metals, mold, and pesticides. And the flavor is the best I’ve ever had!

How to Make Pumpkin Spice Matcha Latte

  1. Add cashew milk, coconut sugar, pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla extract in a small saucepan and heat over medium heat. Whisk to combine and foam as the mixture heats up.
  2. Remove from heat as soon as you see the mixture start to bubble.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together matcha and hot water with a matcha bamboo whisk or a handheld frother.
  4. Pour the milk mixture into a mug, then top with the whisked matcha. You can serve over ice to enjoy cold. Stir to combine.
  5. Sprinkle with pumpkin pie spice to garnish. Enjoy!

If you don’t care about making pretty swirls of pumpkin milk and matcha, you can just whisk in the matcha powder and water directly into the saucepan after heating up the milk mixture. Some like to also blend everything together to make it ultra smooth, though I don’t find that necessary. And if you want to enjoy this cold, just pour the mixture over a glass of ice!

This pumpkin spice matcha latte is creamy, slightly sweet, packed with antioxidants, and gives you a delightful boost of energy without the crash. Plus, it’s just so tasty if you love pumpkin flavor and it’s a great way to switch up your morning’s matcha!
