Viral Baked Dumplings with Ramen (Easy One-Pan Dinner)

Baked dumplings are the viral recipe everyone’s talking about, and for good reason! They’re cozy, flavorful, and so easy to make. When I first saw this one-pan baked dumpling trend making the rounds online, I immediately knew I had to try it. Of course, I couldn’t resist adding my own twist by baking them with ramen in a savory gochujang broth. The result is a hearty, one-pan dinner that quickly became a family favorite we make on repeat.

Ingredients

  • 1-2 tbsp gochujang or sriracha
  • 6 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce or tamari sauce, for gluten free
  • 5 cups water or chicken broth or vegetable broth
  • 2 cups sliced mushrooms I used shiitake
  • 2 cups baby spinach
  • 3 ramen cakes about 7.5 oz - I used gluten free
  • 16-20 frozen dumplings I used gluten free
  • Chopped green onions, sesame seeds, and/or chili oil for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. In a 9x3 dish, whisk together gochujang, garlic, sugar, sesame oil, and soy sauce. Pour in water or broth, and mix. If you want, you can also add the ramen seasoning packets that came with the ramen cakes, or add 3-4 tbsp of this seasoning.
1-2 tbsp gochujang, 6 garlic cloves, 1 tbsp sugar, 1 tbsp sesame oil, 1/2 cup soy sauce, 5 cups water
  • Add mushroom and spinach, and stir to coat in the broth.
2 cups sliced mushrooms, 2 cups baby spinach
  • Submerge ramen cakes in the broth in a single layer, then add the dumplings around the ramen. It's okay for some of them to float. Spoon the broth over the dumplings.
3 ramen cakes, 16-20 frozen dumplings
  • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  • Remove the foil, then use tongs or chopsticks to flip over the ramen cakes and break them up if they are soft enough. Bake uncovered for another 10-20 minutes until the ramen and dumplings are cooked through (the time depends on the brand of ramen noodles and dumplings).
  • Garnish with green onions, sesame seeds, and/or chili oil, if using. Enjoy right away!

Notes

  • These baked dumplings are best enjoyed immediately while the noodles and dumplings are tender. If you do have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in the microwave or gently simmer on the stovetop with a splash of broth or water until heated through.
