I’m became a Thrive Market about 5 years ago, when the company was still relatively new. Since then, their selections and options have grown and improved drastically and I shop with them almost every month.

Every time I do an unboxing on Instagram, I get asked, “Is Thrive Market worth it?” So I decided to write this post to talk about it in detail, so you can make the decision for yourself if it’s a good fit for you and your family.

What You’ll Find In My Honest Thrive Market Review

Since I go into detail in this post of my Thrive Market review about what it is, the cost, and some of my favorite Thrive Market brands, feel free to skip to the sections that you want to learn more about.

What is Thrive Market?

What is Thrive Market and what makes it different from other companies? Thrive Market is an online grocery store that focuses on specialty diets and high quality products. Their mission is to make healthy living easier and more affordable for everyone, and they truly live out this mission. I personally find that their products are usually more discounted than what I can find at regular grocery stores so it saves me a ton of money in the long run.

I think of it as Whole Foods selections at budget-friendly prices. I’m a huge fan of the items they offer, from snacks, sauces, condiments, paleo flours, dog treats, to diapers.

Not only that, they also have a one-for-one membership matching program called Thrive Gives, in which every paid membership sponsors a free one for a low-income family. I’ll also go more into how they are constantly working to do good for the planet, their employees, and their customers later in this post, since that is one of the major factors I look at in a brand when I decide to support them.

How Much Does Thrive Market Cost?

As a membership-based store, you actually have 2 options to suit your budget and lifestyle. So how much is Thrive Market membership? Here’s the breakdown:

  • 1 month membership for $9.95/month
  • 12 month membership for $5/month (billed at $59.95)

I’m on the 12 month Thrive Market membership, because the cost is less overall. On top of that, members save an average of $32 on every order, so the fee really pays itself back (plus more) after you shop a few times.

Right now – they are offering 25% off your first order AND a FREE gift when you join!

I also love that Thrive Market is committed to never engaging in surge pricing. You are guaranteed find the same members-only savings no matter what.

Is There a Shipping Fee and How Long Does Thrive Market Take to Ship?

Shipping is actually FREE on all order over $49+. Since I order about once a month, I always spend over $49 anyway to restock on my favorite items. This means I’ve never paid for shipping, which is another savings for me at the end of the day.

How long does Thrive Market take to ship? This past year has been tough time for mail carriers from the global pandemic. It’s taken up to 6-7 days in the beginning stages of the pandemic, but it’s much faster these days. I’ve recently been getting my boxes delivered within 3 days, so I believe things are getting back to normal again.

On top of that, the packaging is always sturdy and carefully wrapped so nothing ever gets damaged. All the packaging contents are 100% recyclable and shipped with a carbon-neutral footprint.

Who is Thrive Market Best For?

Most people who like to purchase high quality ingredients and products at a budget-friendly price will love Thrive Market, their prices, and offerings. It’s especially helpful and best for individuals who:

  • are trying to save money on their grocery bill.
  • have specific dietary needs like paleo, Whole30, keto, AIP, grain free, or vegan.
  • are busy and don’t have the time to go grocery shopping.
  • live in an area where they live far from specialty grocery stores.
  • love specialty products and choose organic products often.
  • are short on time and like to purchase healthy convenience products like dressing, condiments, snacks, and more.

These are some of the best Thrive Market products that I purchase regularly and always make sure to have my pantry stocked with. There are several that are Thrive Market brands ever since they started making their own products, and the quality of those is just as great as the name brand items but at a lower price!

Thrive Market’s Social Responsibility

One of the things I admire most about Thrive Market (and one of the first things I look for in a brand) is what they are doing to make positive changes in the world. This make me choose this company over others every time. I’m thoroughly impressed by the variety of efforts and programs they are part of to make a difference for good, and these are just some of them:

  • Thrive Market is a Certified B Corporation. What does that mean? In order to receive Certified B Corporation status, a brand becomes legally required to consider the impact of its decisions on workers, communities, customers, suppliers, and the environment. This is no small feat since they have to meet the strict high standards set by the B Lab.
  • Co-Founders Nick, Sasha, and Gunnar collectively donated $50,000 to Black Lives Matter. On top of that, Thrive Market’s Black Thriver community handpicked the organizations they’re supporting as a company, in addition to Black Lives Matter: Know Your Rights Camp Legal Defense Fund and the Atlanta Solidarity Fund. As employees show their support for these groups by donating, Thrive Market will also match their monetary donations by 2:1. Current donations are at $83,000 as of early July. How amazing is that?
  • The Thrive Market COVID-19 Relief Fund aims to provide grocery stipends to families facing health or financial hardships due to COVID-19. To date, Thrive Market has raised over $1 million dollars from members, employees, partners and brands.
  • They have a Thrive Gives program, which is their one-for-one membership matching program. Every paid membership sponsors a free one for a low-income family and you can learn more about here. Since 2015, Thrive Market members have donated over $1.5 million at checkout!
  • All of their orders are delivered with carbon-neutral shipping from their zero-waste warehouses. Their fulfillment centers are powered by renewable wind energy. This means that all of the boxes and packaging are also made from recycled paper and are recyclable, even the tape that keeps the package together!

Honest Thrive Market Review: Cons

I know I listed a ton of pros so far in this Thrive Market review. If you are looking for some negatives, here are just a few that I could think of. They don’t keep me from shopping there though, because they are minor to me personally:

  • There is a membership fee ($59.95/year). BUT if you don’t make back your annual membership fee in savings, Thrive Market will actually credit back the difference in Thrive Market cash.
  • They do not offer perishables like fruits and vegetables. They did recently start selling meats and meals though (and wines!), but I haven’t tried those yet.
  • You need to plan ahead if you are about to run out of something, since it could take longer than in-person grocery shopping or Amazon Prime. I personally got my last order in 3 days though, so they try to ship as fast as they can!
  • You do pay $5.95 for shipping and handling on orders under $49, so it’s not ideal if you want to make a small orders. It’s free for orders over $49, so I recommend stocking up on your favorite items each time to go over that threshold to save money.
  • Sometimes, I’ll find some of the items cheaper on Amazon or Costco since they may offer the same items in bulk or they are having a special sale or promo. For the most part though, I usually find that Thrive Market offers competitive or lower pricing. I also like that I don’t have to buy in large quantities there to save money.

Is Thrive Market Worth It?

For me personally, heck yes. Since I’m gluten free and try to find products that are organic and have high quality ingredients, it is well worth my annual membership. It’s also easy to find healthy snacks for my family (especially my growing toddler), so I definitely get my money back in savings plus more. The money we save on their affordable diapers is worth it alone, to be honest.

As a stay-at-home mom who works full time and cook a lot of meals at home, I so appreciate the convenience of getting items delivered right to my door.

It’s also valuable if you live far from grocery stores or do not have easy access to organic and natural brands at an affordable price.

Do You Have a Promo or a Discount?

Yes! Another thing I love about Thrive Market is that they often email you about free gifts with purchase, and I take advantage of those promos whenever I can.

Right now – they are offering 40% off your first order AND a FREE gift when you join!

They have one month and 12 month membership options, and you can cancel anytime.

Hope you enjoyed my Thrive Market review, and maybe you’ll consider becoming a member like me. If you already a member – tell me in the comment your favorite products from there!

I have started ordering from Thrive Market and love the selection! Thanks for these suggestion. I have added them to my to-try list. Something I recently tried and enjoy are the Jack’s beans – for example, https://thrivemarket.com/p/jacks-quality-organic-ls-cannellini-beans
Great quality and I like the carton they come in.
