What Makes This Recipe Great

It’s cold outside and I love warming up with a cozy mug of hot cocoa and enjoying this festive season. I figured, why not enjoy this chocolatey beverage with my beloved matcha green tea?

From this idea, I’ve created a cozy, creamy, and delicious hot chocolate almond milk matcha latte. While it might sound like an odd combo, it’s actually a really lovely blend of flavors.

Simply combine the ingredients, froth the milk, and pour. Serve with yummy toppings like whipped cream, mini marshmallows, shaved chocolate, and/or cinnamon. If you’re like me, you’ll be drinking this hot chocolate matcha almond milk latte all season long!

Ingredient Notes

See the recipe card below for the full list of ingredients.

Matcha: Not all matcha green tea powder is created equal. I highly recommend high-quality, ceremonial-grade matcha for a superior flavor. This is my favorite – use code JEAN5 for 5% off.

Cocoa Powder: Use unsweetened cocoa powder or cacao powder. This adds a rich chocolate flavor without any sweetness.

Maple Syrup: I don’t love drinks that are too sweet, so 2 tsp of maple syrup tasted perfect to me. Feel free to add more if you like.

Almond Milk: I used almond milk in this recipe. If you want it richer you can use thick cashew milk or full-fat coconut milk. If you aren’t dairy free, you can use heavy cream or regular milk.

Toppings: Optional. Whipped cream, mini marshmallows, shaved chocolate, and/or cinnamon.
